Emotion Code Technique:
What Is It
What is the Emotion Code?
The Emotion Code is a technique used to release trapped emotions and is taught by (who also has a book on The Emotion Code), Dr. Bradly Nelson. His philosophy is that we hold emotions inside and that they settle in various areas on the body and can manifest as pain (joint pain, knee pain, back pain etc.), behavioral (i.e.: ADHD, anger, addiction, irritability) and emotional issues (i.e.: depression, anger, anxiety, etc.)
If you are familiar with muscle testing, this is the method Dr. Bradley teaches us to use to locate trapped emotions. Once they are found, they are released from the body. The process of finding a trapped emotion and releasing it usually takes only minutes. (for the experienced, however, expect to spend a little more time with me early on until I fully get the hang of it)
Muscle testing, also known as applied kinesiology or energy testing, is based on asking your subconscious questions and looking for weakness or strength in the muscle (or body part) tested. Your conscious mind is very good at blocking off certain emotions or tucking them away in certain places of your brain. These emotions are negative energies that over time have an impact on your body.
While you (your conscious mind) may think that these emotions have been dealt with or more often, just forgotten, in reality they may not have been and your subconscious is still aware of them.
The method of finding and just releasing an emotion I realize can sound very weird or too far out there. I get it. I have been looking into this for over a year now before taking the plunge. It began with talking to someone else who believed in the emotion-pain relationship theory.
I started out my journey by reading other books on pain and health and how it is tied to our emotions. I read The Great Pain Deception by Steven Ray Ozanich and then moved on to The Brain’s Way of Healing by Norman Doidge, MD. I then watched e-motion documentary, and this is when Dr Bradley’s approach resonated with me and I was drawn to this method.
The Emotion Code therapy is not the only way to release emotions. You can find many others teaching and using different methods as well but this one I have found to be a good fit for me and my clients. What you need to know is that your body is made up of energy and stored and trapped negative emotions can create negative energy in your body that can manifest in many ways.
I am not new to muscle testing. I had taken my son years ago to someone who did muscle testing to release health issues and while I was skeptical at first, in the end, after over a year of seeing medical professionals and running tests for his chronic cough when he was in grade school, this holistic professional got rid of my son’s cough within 48 hours.
How It Can Help You
It can help people with pain issues, with health issues that you have not gotten results for and for those with mental health issues such as forms of anxiety and depression. It can help if you are the person with angry outbursts, fly off the handle, irritable with others etc. It can help you if you have pain and no one can find the reason for it or medications, surgery and other modalities have not helped.
I remember several years back, I was up in NJ handling the difficult process of moving my mother into a group home from her home she lived in for over 40 years. It was not going well. I ran while up there to help me cope. On the last day there, without any hint of pain prior, I had terrible heel pain during the run. The pain lasted a year to the point walking was painful. I tried everything. At one point, at one of the healing practitioners, she asked me what was going on in my life when the pain started. She looked at me with the “ah hah” look when I told her.
She tried to explain to me the connection. I must admit, at the time, I thought she was crazy and was not open to the idea that they were connected. But now I look back and see how it all made sense. The body, my brain, would rather focus on the pain in my heel then the pain of what I was putting my mother through when it was something she did not want to do. The heel pain was much easier for me to bear.
Why Should You Give It a Try?
You should try it if you have tried other methods and have not gotten results or only lackluster results. It is painless, not invasive and quick.
What I also like is that you will not have to go into detail with me about a past emotional events or trauma unless you want to briefly mention it. It maintains your privacy and we don’t have to sit for hours on the couch rehashing some traumatic event.
For instance, you may see me for depression. I will ask your body (subconscious) if there is a trapped emotion causing the depression. If I get a yes answer, I move on, identifying the trapped emotion and releasing it. Note that often there is more than one emotion related to a condition. Thus, for instance, for depression, we may release 10 or more emotions just for that.
Dr Bradley believes that we have hundreds of trapped emotions.
Those who purchase a package of consults, I am adding in the Emotion Code Technique for free. Otherwise for a 30 minute session, the cost is $40 and in each session we will release as many emotions as we can in that time period.
Who Should Avoid It?
If you are skeptical then don’t try it currently. I will not get the right messages from your subconscious. You should be open to the process with a relaxed mind and good intentions. For instance, when I had my heel pain and the practitioner told me that my emotions related to my mother were causing it, I was not ready to accept that. It was not the right time for me to understand the pain-emotion connection.
If it doesn’t make sense to you, I suggest you start doing your own research, on areas such as the subconscious, how the body is made of energy, pain-emotion connection etc.
Why Am I Adding This Therapy In, If I Am a Nutritionist?
I am a nutritionist with the goal of helping people with depression, anxiety and ADHD to feel much better. I have found that many people come to me with a past of abuse, trauma, neglect and much more. While I am aware of the impact that these events can have on the body such as cortisol dysregulation, gut dysbiosis and nutritional deficiencies, as a past social worker, I felt like there was something I needed to do to address these emotions from a different perspective but yet without getting into talk therapy sessions.
I also like this because sometimes people need to make dietary changes but are stuck. They just cannot do it, or if they try and fail they berate themselves and tell themselves “they are a loser” or “I can’t do anything right”. This is when addressing the emotions causing these negative thoughts can help to get past it so that the person can achieve their goals.
Now I have more tools in my tool kit in order to help you reach your goals and feel better.
How to Prepare for A Session
Come fully hydrated. I will have filtered water here as well.
Come with your issues! Make a list if you need to! For instance, it could be PTSD, fear of something, addiction, and pain anywhere in the body.
Nothing else is needed. Most find it very relaxing as there is not much you need to do in the session but close your eyes, clear your mind and relax.
What Should I Expect Afterwards?
As you process these emotions, I liken it to the detox you may feel when you change your diet for the better. You may feel like you have the flu, brain fog, headache, melancholy and fatigued. Or you may experience more of the emotions just released. So for instance, we may have released frustration, worthlessness, anger and guilt. You may have a greater sense of these emotions. It should last only a day or two.
While at the training, we had to practice on one another, so throughout the course of the day, we all were getting emotions released. I felt fine the day after. But the following day I was very fatigued and very melancholy. I just wanted to be alone and really do nothing and I honored that as much as I was able to. Dr. Bradley says this is your body’s way of processing. The next day I woke up energized and motivated.
For some they may feel a change right away. For instance, if you came in with back pain at a 10, it may be down to a 4 or 5 by the time you leave. Most people notice gradual, subtle changes and others often notice the changes in you as well. It is much like when we change the diet. It is a gradual improvement and one day we suddenly realize how much better we feel! Or others will comment and notice the change in you first.
What I have been noticing so far based on practice clients feedback, is that they notice within a few days some gradual improvements.
Questions?
Some questions I have been asked so far:
What if I don’t believe in God? It doesn’t matter what your religious beliefs are and I don’t need to know either. This is about talking to your subconscious. It has nothing to do with a higher power.
What if I am a current addict and want help? Many alternative options I have looked into tell me I have to be clean/sober for at least 3 months. That’s another reason why I like this method. I can help identify if there are any trapped emotions causing your addiction. And as long as you are open to the process, you do not have to be “clean yet”.
If you find a trapped emotion do I have to tell you what it relates to in my past? No! That’s why I love this. You can share a bit of information with me if you want but you also don’t have to tell me anything. Many of my clients have just nodded, and said “yeah, that makes sense”. Also, there are times the emotion I have found makes no sense to you. It may not hit you what that emotion is related to until days later, or it could have been so buried that you never know what instance it is related to. However, I have found that most people will recall some major events that impacted them.
Do I need to give you a history on me, tell you background information? Actually, the less I know the better so that it does not impact the process. I just need to know what you want to focus on. So for instance, you can come to me and say I want to work on my knee pain, or my depression or my addiction. I dont need to know more.
